Little Houses Updates

I have been working on a project for Automat - a company the uses a group of retired cigarette vending machines to sell art instead of cigarettes. They are very retro and very cool and come in great colors and designs. There are over 100 machines in business all over the US and a few other countries. My work was selected so I have completed the first 50 pieces. The final product has a cellophane wrapper and will be added to machines in different locations. Each one sells for $5.00 - so the lucky buyer gets an original piece of at for five bucks!

This first series is called Little Houses and I used the song Little Boxes by Malvina Reynolds for inspiration.

Here are photos in chronological order from plain wood blocks when I just started paintings to the final wrapped product.

Big Sky

I went out for a ride the other day and due to a late night I decided that I was not going to break any land-speed cycling records so I decided to just enjoy the ride and shoot some photos. The sky was a perfect cloudless blue and the rooftops looked so well contrasted against the sky. So here are five images shot from Martinez to Pleasant Hill to Walnut Creek and back to Martinez. I feel like this could be a fun photographic journal of rising through the burbs.

Monochromatic Intentions

It's no secret that I love black and white design. Being able to use a minimum of color - black and white are technically not colors but for the sake of this paragraph, let's just say they are - is a challenge and a fun one at that. I will be in a few shows this summer and I have decided to focus most of the work on this minimalist idea. Here are a few new works on 6x6 panels. They are full of layers to get the most in depth and then coated with gel medium to again make it pop and add depth. Check back here for dates and locations of the shows.
