I came up with this idea for a short story based on a conversation I had with a friend about how young students are using electronic devices for learning more and more and these devices tend to fill in the words - thus eliminating the need to learn proper spelling (spell check anyone?) and phonics. Then we thought maybe it was more important to have good content and worry about spelling later. Odd thought but that's where this conversation was going.
So I came up with this story about a group of spellers who held onto this craft - so to speak - and respected it and kept it vital and relevant. It's very futuristic but with that steam punk way about it. I actually had to look up typewriter parts to finish a few paragraphs.
The story goes from one image to the second.
