Not the cocktails with alcohol - sorry to disappoint - however we have a cocktail in another form. These two pieces are Mint Cocktail and Coral Cocktail. They are created digitally with so many layers - I think over 30 on each. Also - most of the layers have their opacity dropped off so that the pieces have a transparent feel and layers of white and then layers of the main colors over and over.
Available as fine art prints here and here.

Numbers 54 & 55
Summer puts me in sun mode which means I am thinking of beaches - which easily moves to thinking about water and the colors blue and green. So while I was working on some larger paintings in blues and greens I used the leftover paint for numbers 54 & 55.
I'm thinking that when I am done with this project I am going to put my favorite images in a Shutterfly Book. What do you think?

things on water
I haven't created anything new in a few weeks. Well actually I was working on some small acrylic originals but nothing new for art prints...I simply wasn't inspired so I find it is best to step away and not expect to find inspiration when it's just not there.
It will come - it always does.
Yesterday a simple idea popped into my head so I made these:
Falling On Water 1 & 2.
These are not the end all be all...but perhaps just a beginning of a new series.
Find them here as art prints on Artist Rising, Society6 and Imagekind.

Numbers 51 & 53
Here is a continuation of the dots. Only lines. Lines are nice - they go with dots. To be used at a later date as a background.
I just realized I'm behind by over 50 paintings. Oh my...this may be a Painting Every Other Day project.

Numbers 49, 50 & 52
I know what you are thinking. What's with the dots!! The purpose behind this set is twofold - one to work on this Painting/Drawing a Day Project and 2 - to create backgrounds to be used later in digital art. I scanned these at 600 dpi and plan to use them somewhere in later works as backgrounds - probably haphazardly placed - maybe subtle - or not.
These are watered down acrylics on Strathmore drawing paper.

Number 47 & 48
When I am painting I hate to waste paints. Anyone who creates probably understands exactly what I am talking about. Art supplies are expensive so I use as much as I can. For numbers 47 & 48 I was working on larger paintings and decided to make these little studies with the leftover paints. Again - I like dots.

yeah - I know - I love Palm Springs
Funny story about these three pieces. There were once other paintings but they did not sell. I liked the images but loved the frames more...so I did what any pragmatic person does - I covered the frames carefully in paper (I did not remove the paintings) and repainted the pieces. Again. Again. And finally Number 4.
The thing about creating art is you need to accept when the pieces work and when they don't. I think I have that down. It took four times and now they worked. Then when I took the paper off and really got a clear view of what these pieces really looked like all I though was...PALM SPRINGS! the colors, the positive energy, the lack of seriousness. All they are missing are palm trees. So here you go. Palm Springs Vacay 1, 2,3
(all are available for purchase if you know anyone decorating their Palm Springs vacation home. :) )
