When Landscapes Dream...original art

I was in an ethereal mood when I painted these two originals on wood panel.
8x8 acrylic.

Clouds and blue sky's with hints of opposing - yet - complimentary colors.
Even though they are small I was able to set them up as fine art prints that will go to large sizes right here on Artist Rising and Imagekind.
Have a great week!

going in circles

Today...I'm going in circles. Circles balance hard edges...give shape...define space and make an image flow. I'm working on a series and here is what I have so far.

numbers 29-34

This group is a mix of painting and collage. And the last two are contributions to the Twitter Art Exhibit / Orlando.  Here's a brief explanation: (ok - maybe not so brief but it's straight off the site.)

Twitter Art Exhibit: Orlando is an international exhibition of original postcard art benefiting The Center for Contemporary Dance, Special Needs Classes, a nonprofit (501)©3 organization dedicated to dance education and outreach. The Special Needs Classes include customized exercises that expand the student’s range of motion, creativity and social skills. Class work is further designed to enhance skills in memorization, problem solving and communication. Belinda Balleras, whose son takes classes every week, says: “He has a new sense of creative fulfillment and an additional pathway to productively express emotions.”

Enjoy - more creations next week. :)

urban meets romance...

I went a whole other direction with these two and loved trying something I had not done. I wanted to blend a touch of urban living with a bit of romance and that's what happened when I scanned in vintage etchings and dropped them onto black and white gritty backgrounds. I've been in the poster business for nearly 20 years and I have seen trends come and go and we are reaching out to a whole new audience of art buyers who are straying from contemporary pedestrian imagery to something that's minimal, sometimes goth, urban...and moody. So that was my inspiration. Visit my Etsy site if you are interested in fine art prints on paper or canvas.

When landscapes dream....

Sometimes titles make no sense and I titled these two landscapes When Landscapes Dream and - really - do they dream? They are inanimate and have no brain activity. But still...

8x8 acrylic on wood panel  - will be set up on my poster sites today. :)

Numbers 22-28

I played around with collage this week - it's been a long time and there is so much satisfaction in cutting paper and gluing and placing and hoping it all looks good when it dries. These are very small - maybe 2"x 3". Just simple contrasting shapes. More to come next week. I think I am getting into the groove now. I even draw on the train ride home.
